Common questions

What is a medico-legal neuropsychological assessment?

Neuropsychological assessment is a systematic evaluation of cognitive, emotional, and adaptive functioning, using standardised tests and clinical examination. A medico-legal assessment applies that method to a forensic question by characterising the nature, extent, and likely cause of any cognitive, emotional, and functional impairment whether this arises from a brain injury, a medical event, or another incident, and the resulting loss of function.

Do you accept Road Accident Fund (RAF) matters?

Yes. Road Accident Fund claims are a regular part of my case load as well as personal-injury, medical-negligence, and forensic matters. Each assessment includes a full neuropsychological battery with symptom- and performance-validity testing.

Do you prepare reports for both plaintiff and defendant attorneys?

Yes. Instructions are accepted from plaintiff and defendant attorneys alike. The purpose of the assessment is to provide an independent neuropsychological opinion for the court.

What areas do you serve?

The practice is based at rooms in 5 Berea Mall, East London, and serves the Eastern Cape. Assessments are also conducted elsewhere in South Africa by arrangement, where the matter warrants travel.

How soon is a report delivered?

Reports are typically delivered within two weeks of the date of assessment.

In which languages can assessments be conducted?

Assessments can be conducted in all 12 official South African languages, with cultural and linguistic factors taken into account.

How can I verify the practitioner's HPCSA registration?

Jonathan Glover is registered with the Health Professions Council of South Africa as a Clinical Psychologist. Registration can be verified directly with the HPCSA at hpcsa.co.za.
